Sam Kubina has been teaching brass, piano, and flute at Carmel Music Center since 2015. He graduated from the University of Indianapolis receiving a degree in Tuba Performance, with a concentration in Music Composition/Theory. Sam studied tuba and brass pedagogy with Professor Glen Dimick, Composition with Dr. John Berners, flute with Dr. Tamara Thweatt, and piano with Dr. Sharon Parr. Through private lessons, he seeks to provide each student with a foundation of musical and personal independence through technical proficiency, music theory, musicianship, practice techniques, critical listening, and historical/cultural background. Tuba for the CBDNA Intercollegiate Honor Band in 2016 and 2018. He performs regularly with the Columbus Brass Quintet and has recently started performing Irish flute in an Irish trio. He is also the Music Director of a new orchestra based in Indianapolis that focuses on performing
new pieces as well as unknown works from the past.
